Workshop – Embroidered Flower Bookmark – Friday 29th April

Held within my garden studio, I will introduce you to the wonderful technique of freehand machine embroidery in a relaxed and fun creative session.

Having received a practical demonstration, you will start by practising on a piece of calico to try out some different techniques and to get a feel for ‘drawing with thread’ before creating your own embroidered flower bookmark onto a natural linen. Take inspiration from seasonal flowers or choose a flower that’s special to you. It is entirely up to you!

All materials, including threads and hoops, will be provided as will drinks and chocolate brownies (please let me know if you can’t eat these as I will make an alternative!).

All levels are welcome, including beginners, and I will offer help and guidance throughout. If you feel you may lack in a little creative confidence in producing your own design I will happily provide templates for you to work from, and we will work through ideas together.

I recommend that you bring along your own machine which must have a drop-down feed dog and a darning or embroidery foot and do bring your general purpose foot too. I do have some machines available to use if you don’t have your own, just let me know in advance if you’d like to use one.

My studio workshop is located within a mile of TN22 5JH near Blackboys, East Sussex. My full address and directions will be emailed to you once you have booked, along with any details on how to set up your machine for freehand embroidery.
