Embroidery Kit – Poppies

I am delighted to offer you the opportunity to explore the wonderful technique of freehand machine embroidery enabling you to create your own piece of embroidered artwork.

Each kit contains;

A beautiful piece of cream linen which includes a line drawing of the design for you to follow

A piece of calico to practise

6″ wooden embroidery hoop

A circle of felt to stitch onto the reverse of your embroidery

A length of ribbon so you can hang your finished piece

YOU WILL NEED;

A sewing machine with a lowered feed dog (the metal teeth beneath the sewing foot)

Embroidery or darning foot

Thread & scissors

For finishing the piece you’ll need a needle and thread.

The purpose of my kits is to offer you the opportunity to explore this wonderful technique using my design as a guide. Feel free to create your own unique piece by selecting your own thread colours, stitching larger leaves, or filling the whole hoop with embroidery, it’s entirely up to you.

I use variegated Gutterman Sulky threads which create a beautiful and quite natural tonal effect to the embroidery. Stitching with this slightly thicker thread also means that you’ll need less stitches to fill a solid area. These reasonably priced threads can be purchased on my website here, and can be used for many more sewing projects.

I’ve included a written guide to machine embroidery with some helpful suggestions as well as step by step instructions to complete your embroidery, therefore these kits are suitable for all abilities.
